Overview

Andrew Slobodien joined Laner Muchin in 2024 as Of Counsel and concentrates his practice in labor and employment law, with a particular focus in labor union relations. 

With extensive experience handling all manner of employee and labor relations, Andrew assists clients with coordinating labor bargaining, contract negotiations, union campaigns and in litigating matters related to grievances, arbitrations and allegations of unfair labor practices. In addition, he has regularly practiced in federal and state courts as well as before the NLRB, EEOC, IELRB, IDHR and other administrative agencies. 

Prior to joining the firm, Andrew served as a labor and employment attorney at Chicago-based law firms, where he advised companies and individuals on labor and employee issues and represented clients large and small and in numerous industries. In addition, he was Associate Director of Labor and Employee Relations for the University of Illinois Chicago, where he was lead negotiator and administrator for major labor contracts on campus and at UI Health.

Most recently, Andrew was the Director of Labor and Employee Relations at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he served as the lead administrator for all labor and employee relations matters and coordinated bargaining and legal strategy with 15 other University of California locations.
